Cubes (Small Groups at Cornerstone)

One of the major parts of our fellowship at Cornerstone is gathering together into "families", local groups of anything from 5-20 people. We have groups meeting in homes all around the borough to pray, fellowship and study the word of God.  They also arrange social events that we can enjoy and invite others along to.be inspired with fun social ideas to reach out to your friends and family. The groups meet on different nights of the week and at different frequencies so that people are able to join a group that fits in with their availability.

Details of our current groups are listed below. If you aren't in a group please email admin@cornerstonecc.co.uk with your postcode and contact details.

Cubes Vision

Cornerstone's small groups are patterned after the Jewish Levitical Cities in terms of its location and purpose.

Levitical Cities were cities allocated to the tribe of Levi amongst the other tribes. The Levites were scattered among the tribes of Israel. They performed their priestly functions in each tribe. They were teachers of the Law and priests to the people among whom they dwelt.

To this end, the Small Groups will aim:

i. To develop the spiritual gifts of its members

ii. Mobilize the awesome power of the Holy Spirit to work through a trained and experienced laity in making Christ known

iii. To facilitate true relationship-based community

The CUBE was a favourite unit of Hebrew measurement. It is also to be the measurement of every Small Group in Cornerstone, and of every member of the Cornerstone community.

Length: The stretching forward of our soul as we leave the things that are behind and reach for those that are before. We must never rest on our oars or think that we are perfect or have arrived.

Philippians 3:12 -14:  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Breadth: Our life must reach out on the right and left to help others. The Cross stands for unselfishness, and those who claim to have been crucified with Christ must live, not to themselves, but to Him who died for them and through Him for all that He cares and loves.

Depth: We must dwell deep - rooted; grounded—our foundations must be in Christ. Our lives must flow from the Life of Christ as fountains spring from the depths of the hills. Tree roots need to spread as far underground as the branches above.

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19 NKJV)

Height: Our ideals should always be rising and heaven bound
